Huda Beauty is easily one of the most talked about beauty brands today. These mini nine (9) shadow palettes have been raved about since they've come out. Over the years I've learned just because it's bragged about, doesn't mean it's worth the hype. Cough *Naked Smokey Palette* Cough! Originally I wanted the electric palette. Those beautiful bright shades looked so intense and stunning in the palette. Then I saw a few less than satisfactory (at best) reviews on that specific palette. So I opted for the Smokey palette instead. That silver just kind of spoke to me, you know? So this is my no bs review on the Huda Beauty Smokey palette. How can you tell I'm not bsing you? It's simple. I haven't even monetized this blog yet. I'm sure none of you know me. If you do, you most likely came here from my
paranormal channel. Yes, I have a paranormal channel on YouTube. I know it's a little strange, but as you can tell, I have not much to gain from sugar coating my opinions on this palette.

One (1) swipe swatches, except for the black. It broke

This is what the palette should look like if the black isn't shattered. I couldn't fault Huda (at first) because who knows how someone is handling your package. I figured it happened in shipping. Then I saw that others were having shattered shadows and the only shadow being shattered seemed to be the black. These shadows are very soft, so maybe the black is just extra soft and we all know how UPS, Fed Ex, and even your local Post Office can handle your packages. I have an Etsy shop, and the lady at my local post office literally threw my fragile package into the bin. It contained a lipstick from the 60s. I could just imagine, this lipstick survived decades and in just a matter of seconds, this lady may have broken it. Luckily it arrived to its new owner just fine! Long story short, I can see how a soft shadow could easily break in the hands of another. I contacted Sephora, and they are sending another my way. These Obsession palettes are tiny. I mean fits in your palm of your hand, could carry it around your back pocket tiny. The cost for one of these highly coveted palettes is twenty-seven (27) dollars. Like I said, the black was shattered when it arrived at my house. The black got all over, however, I was able to tell it is one hell of a pigmented shadow. I should have taken a picture of how black my hands were from handling it. The swatch is a little funky, but trust me, it is dark! The second shade is ever so slightly patchy, but not bad at all. It's pigmented and easy to work with despite the slight patchiness. The third shade is pretty much a perfect shadow. Pigmented, soft, blendable, and a lovely rose gold shade. (Remember when those shades were just the coolest thing since sliced bread?) Now to that silver. That silver that just spoke to me. This guy is kind of a letdown. Don't get me wrong, it is in no way a bad shadow. It needs a little tlc though. When not looking at the swatch up close, it looks pretty nice. You're probably sitting there, sipping your coffee, thinking Christine, you're nitpicking. If you are, click on the image to enlarge it. You can see it's a bit patchy. It's highly pigmented, so handled with care, it's a simple remedy. I wet the brush I was going to use for this color, a flat shader. When I applied to my lid, I was just like damn! That looks nice. Then the day went on. I went to my hematologist, had a CBC, went out to lunch with my younger brother, and took my dog for a walk. It wasn't even the end of the day when I noticed my eyeshadow had begun to crumble. It was only the silver. The other shades were fine. I hadn't done too much, so by two o'clock, I was surprised to see it crumbling. I played around some more with this shadow. A little glitter glue or a sticky base can help fix this problem. The next shimmery shade is very nice, but the real star is the third one in the second row. I was stunned by this color. It's absolutely beautiful. Perfect, I would argue. It doesn't look like anything special in the pan but swatched and applied, it's positively jaw-dropping. It's a lovely orange-copper shade and the best shade in this palette. Of course, that's just my humble opinion. The next two shades aren't anything special, but necessary to be able to complete a look with just this palette. Now, I don't mind digging in other palettes or even singles for another shadow. I realize I'm more of an exception and not the rule here. I have to say, there is a little bit of patchiness with these two shade as well. Though with a little bit of building and blending, they work just fine. The last color is a fine color. It's pigmented, it's pretty, but it's not a stand out like that orange-copper one was for me. All in all, I think this palette is worth its price tag. You won't break the bank purchasing this, and it performs quite well. It's definitely worth it if you've been itching to try Huda Beauty but are afraid to go with one of their more pricey items.
